Last week, I saw “Let´s get lost”, a documentary about Chet Baker produced by Bruce Weber.
In the noir film Bruce Webber shows us Chet´s life in a very poetic but still raw and realist way. The movie is a collection of memorable beautiful ladies, powerful statements, the gifted Chet Backer life and “all that jazz”.
You glance Chet and you fall for him. His James Dean´s hair and his weird-structured teeth are just as charismatic as his music. Girls and Boys couldn´t stop staring at him and even when he got old with his premature old skin and no teeth on his mouth he was still unforgettable. People still wanted the man and the artist.
I Highly recommend the three The documentary, Bruce Weber photography work & of course Chet Baker albuns.

Maybe the best documentary ever made! But that balcony...ufff...it makes me angry!!

Chet was awsome but he would have been better in Country Music. I subscribe Tony from 24h Party People when he says that Jazz people have more fun than the audience...
ReplyDeleteBut you now... Chet wasn't the typical Jazz player...it's not his virtuosity...he above all jazz musicians made music for the audience..he simply loved beatiful melodies! That's the great thing about the "cool jazz".
ReplyDeleteI liked this post a lot. Firstly, it introduced me to Bruce Weber and Chet Baker, whose work was unknown to me. Sometimes ignorance slaps you hard in the face. Secondly, I liked this post's humanitarian appeal. It appeals to all those who were unfortunate to be born with "weird teeth". Maybe they are from less favoured neighbourhoods, like the Bronx, Tarrafal or Pasteleira and don't have money to fix their teeth. Or maybe they have money, but they are just too lazy to fix them, or are not interested. But this post marks a turning point in their lives. Because now they know there's a girl in the world with a soft spot for guys with weird teeth. Her name? Senhora Tyler, the new "enfant terrible" of the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteLOL they are not that weird but yes once I fall for a guy without the front tooth. Then I spoke with him and although he was 23 at the time he was learning how to read. That was the turn off. To be able to read and write are basically the only two things I ask in a guy.
